Outside the professional sphere I try to maintain productive and constructive activities, some for causes that I care deeply about.
I am an Airport Planner because from a young age I caught the aviation bug and couldn’t let go. Many ask why aviation, my parents were born on different continents and met on a third. If it wasn’t for airplanes, I wouldn’t be here, I have a debt of existence to aviation that I payback through my work. I am a board member of the Flight Path Museum at LAX, and am responsible amongst other things in developing their new website and logo: www.flightpathlax.com
In addition to aviation, I am an award-winning fine-arts photographer. Some of my work (tip of the iceberg) can be seen here at jcd.photo, a good portion of my photography employs a seldom used technique using infrared light to capture light beyond human visible range. Using a proprietary work-flow I can render those images visible.
I have also volunteered in the past on medical missions abroad with Operation Smile as well as in the Emergency Room in my neighborhood at Santa Monica UCLA Hospital.
